What healthy accomplishment have you completed recently?
After years of being considered overweight, my BMI is down to the ideal range!
What was your wakeup call? What motivated you?
I was ignoring my Doctor’s advice to lose 15 pounds for years. I didn’t think I could lose weight or that it really mattered. I started to get lower back pain and felt very tired. My colleague had recently lost weight and shared his story with me.
What was the most difficult part of the experience?
Changing from old habits was difficult and I had to prepare food differently and eat out less.
How has your life changed since this event?
I began to educate myself and attend sessions that my employer hosted on nutrition. I am gardening (planting beets and other veggies) and feeling energetic!
What are your three top tips for someone trying to reach the same goal?
- Be persistent.
- Get support.
- Even if you think a program won’t be helpful, just try it.
Before and After Results:
17 pounds less than 2019 weight.

What healthy accomplishment have you completed recently?
I improved my bloodwork and blood pressure.
What was your wakeup call? What motivated you?
I had been putting off my preventive care visit for year since I had sub-par results from my visit. I was in denial and thought things would get better on their own. Last fall, I finally scheduled another visit with no improvement.
What was the most difficult part of the experience?
The most difficult part was understanding how what I eat and how I exercise effects my blood sugar numbers as well as the medications I take.
How has your life changed since this event?
I have been very happy with the consistent drop in my glucose numbers and my doctor is too. I feel more confident that I am able to control the diabetes instead of the diabetes controlling me.
What are your three top tips for someone trying to reach the same goal?
- Don’t be apprehensive to call the nurse line
- Openly discuss all of your concerns
- Don’t be afraid of change
Before and After Results:
Fasting blood glucose was 135. Currently at 118.

What healthy accomplishment have you completed recently?
I lost 5% of my body weight.
What was your wakeup call? What motivated you?
I was unaware that I had the Solera program to help me fend off diabetes. I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my daughter and my doctor said I had a family risk of getting the disease.
What was the most difficult part of the experience?
I was afraid and didn’t know enough, so I was stressed all of the time. Then I took the Solera quiz, realized I was eligible, and began a regimen to treat my pre-diabetes.
How has your life changed since this event?
I am much more accountable for the decisions I make. As a result, I have lost weight in line with the Solera milestones.
What are your three top tips for someone trying to reach the same goal?
Stick to a program. Ask for help when you need it. Trust that professionals in the field know what can help you.
Before and After Results:
As mentioned, I reached my 5% goal.
